Melbourne winger Marika Koroibete's departure from the NRL club to join Super Rugby team Melbourne Rebels has been confirmed.

The Storm confirmed on Thursday the Fijian flyer told his teammates he'd signed a two-year deal to switch codes.

Storm coach Craig Bellamy said last week he was resigned to losing Koroibete to rugby union, with his club unable to match the Rebels' offer to the 23-year-old.
